Just a thoguht

During last Sunday Bhagavatam class, one Spanish Mataji asked this question "When a devotees suffers materially, how can we take this as a mercy of Lord Krishna? How can we be convinced that Krishna has not abandoned us?"

Maharaj gave the wonderful reply, " Krishna never abandons us. Rather, those miserable conditions call us to do more intense prayers and learn how to depend more on Krishna."

Maharaj qutoed the following verse from SB 10.14.8 Prayers of Brahmaji.

tat te 'nukampāḿ su-samīkṣamāṇo

bhuñjāna evātma-kṛtaḿ vipākam

hṛd-vāg-vapurbhir vidadhan namas te

jīveta yo mukti-pade sa dāya-bhāk

"My dear Lord, one who earnestly waits for You to bestow Your causeless mercy upon him, all the while patiently suffering the reactions of his past misdeeds and offering You respectful obeisances with his heart, words and body, is surely eligible for liberation, for it has become his rightful claim."

I found this verse very appealing. Many a time, we become very impatient in our devotional life thinking that miseries have increased after coming to devotional life. This verse clearly indicates that we need to earnestly wait for Lord's causeless mercy. Prabhupad writes in the purport of this verse "Just as a legitimate son has to simply remain alive to gain an inheritance from his father, one who simply remains alive in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, following the regulative principles of bhakti-yoga, automatically becomes eligible to receive the mercy of the Personality of Godhead. In other words, he will be promoted to the kingdom of God."

Hare Krishna!!!

  1. Paintings of lord krishna remind us of his teachings and joy of his love. I found this beautiful site dedicated to maintaining a large collection of lord Krishna paintings.
